There were many women who helped people in the difficult American times of the 19th century. I'll talk about Dorothea Dix. This woman was a teacher by vocation and activist in the soul. She taught children and people without education. As well as Dorothea Dix made a reform in medical institutions. Thanks to her, many hospitals for the mentally ill were opened.
