Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hopes Manchester United did not inflict too much damage on his side ahead of Tuesday’s quarter-final second leg clash with Liverpool in the Champions League.
ลิ้ ง sbo City lost at home in the top flight for the first time this season when they were defeated 2-3 in the Manchester derby, a game they should have had wrapped up in the first half.
Goals from Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan put the Premier League leaders ahead in the first half, then Raheem Sterling could have, and really should have, increased City’s lead when he squandered two one-on-one chances against David De Gea.
City paid for their lack of ruthlessness in front of goal when United scored three times in the second half to dash the Citizens’ hopes of lifting the title on Saturday.
Following the final whistle, Guardiola talked about how one has to remain consistent when playing the top sides, as well as expressing concern that this defeat might affect their confidence going forward.
“We make a good performance in the second half. Obviously you can have 10, 15 minutes where the opponent is good, but in that situation we conceded three goals and that is tough against a good team but after that we go, we try it, and we could not win,” Guardiola explained to the BBC.
