Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen played like an “emperor” following their 1-2 win at Stoke City over the weekend, according to Garth Crooks.
pic5678 The 26-year-old Danish playmaker was at his imperious best at the Bet365 Stadium, scoring twice and creating a further two chances for his teammates.
His performances have been widely lauded, with many suggesting he is among the best in his position, and Crooks – who enjoyed five seasons at Spurs in the 1980s – could only wax lyrical following his latest outing.
“I could watch this lad play football all day. Christian Eriksen strolled around the Bet365 stadium like an emperor, head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch,” the former Tottenham forward told BBC Sport.
“If he wasn’t making runs into dangerous areas, he was wreaking havoc with his precise passes.
“To beat Stoke away from home after winning at Chelsea last weekend – and in light of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ shambolic displays – speaks volumes about the team’s development. At the heart of these performances has been Eriksen.”
