MotioninJoy works for me because I have a PS3 controller. I don't know whether it will work to map off-brand controllers (like Logitech) to function as 360 controllers, though.

XBOX360CE _does_ work with Nitronic Rush for me. It isn't problem of a program if it doesn't work. It is problem of controller which isn't supported or lacks drivers installed.

I play with my PS3 controller using MotionInJoy to emulate an Xbox 360 controller with it. Works great :D

Playing this awesomeness with the Logitech Rumblepad 2 through the x360ce, and it is glorious!

For anyone having problems with x360ce, make sure you read the wiki on their google code page, and remember, just because the game is not on the list doesn't mean it's not supported.

I have a Saitek P2600 controller with "Rumble Force", but it has zero effect on Nitronic Rush.

If anyone's still reading this, the Logitech F310/F510/F710 work fine out of the box because they emulate a 360 pad. Just make sure you've got the XInput/DirectInput switch set to XInput. I can personally recommend both the 310 (cheap wired pad) and the 710 (more expensive, but wireless; supposedly has rumble, but it hasn't worked for me).
