I know you guys have been figuring this stuff out on your own, but I thought that I should just give you the editor hot-key sheet and both of the videos that I created for creating levels in Nitronic.

Level Editor Videos:
Video 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPdPnEP1YJI
Video 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8JhLssbyVI

Always do: Select An Active Layer
Objects are frozen when the level is loaded so be sure to do this
Ctrl:
Ctrl-~(tilda) : Open level editor from the menu
Ctrl-left-click : dolly out/dolly in from target
Ctrl-S: Snap active object to cursor
Ctrl-Z: Undo Movement
Ctrl-R: Snap objects rotation to cursor
Ctrl-C: Copy color of active object
Ctrl-V: Paste copied color to active object
Ctrl-B: Copies brightness

Alt:
alt-~(tilda) : enter editor mode
alt-left-click : rotate camera around green target
alt-B: Paste brightness to selected object
alt-C: Copy light color from selected object
alt-V: Paste copied light color to selected object

Shift:
Shift-left-click: panning camera
Shift-S: snap cursor to selected object
Shift-D: Duplicate selected objects

Misc:
Right-click to select objects
C: Center target on green thing
Tab: Open active object's properties
Mouse-wheel: Dolly in and out
B: Box select
J: Toggle between road connections on selected object
K: Snap road to active road connection
V: Change Camera behavior

Modifiers:
S: scale active object
R: rotate active object
G: Move active object
(S, R, or G) then tap (X, Y, or Z) (Effect only affects the axis that you chose ex: S then tapping X will only scale an object along its global X axis)
(S, R, or G) then double tap (X, Y, or Z) (Effect only affects the object's local axis that you chose ex: G then double tapping X will only move the object along it's local X axis)
(S or G) then tap Shift + (X, Y, or Z) (Effect only affects the global plane that you chose ex: G then tapping Shift + Z will allow you to move the object on the XY plane)
(S or G) then tap Shift + Double tapping(X, Y, or Z) (Effect only affects the local object's plane that you chose ex: G then tapping Shift + double tapping Z will allow me to move an object on the object's local XY plane)

To get an idea of local and global axes, just rotate an object ~45 degrees(basically so it's not flat) along the X axis (R then tap X) and then hit G then tap Y and see what happens. Then hit G and double tap Y and see what happens. Different right?
Tap is global
Double Tap is local

Notes:
Copying anything from a object usually takes the first set of values from that object ex: if the road has two colors then the copy function will grab the color from the first color set even though you have to change the second color of a road to see it actually change.
You can paste a color/light color/brightness to multiple objects selected
Holding Ctrl snaps to a grid
Holding Shift makes movements more precise
In Spanish keyboards, press ñ instead of ~. --Thank you Mr. Mister for the comment
For French keyboards, press ù instead of ~. --Thank you Chiigan for the comment

If any of the wording seems off, feel free to tell me : )

Great one, thanks for the info! Copying color is definately something I will use from now on :)
Edit: What does the z key do? (Holding it, obviously gives me a grid, which I can move along the z-axis, but what is its use?)

The graphics programmer had it in there for something, but I never used it for level editing.

Sadly the editor hot-keys are hard coded, but there is a way to get your keyboard to send a '~' message.

http://www.autohotkey.com/
This program allows you to send a message of a certain key by hitting a combination of keys. Hope this helps.
